07. Matara Fort
The Matara fort was built by the Portuguese in 1560. Although it is relatively different from most other forts in Sri Lanka, it has its own charm. There are a good number of activities tourists can take park around this fort. Seeing ruins of the fort which are in good condition will give you some understanding of history of the region.
